— How would you describe The Loft Las Palmas in a few words?

José Antonio: “It’s a marvelous antique house that has been completely refurbished with contemporary architecture and features three spacious loft-style holiday apartments in the centre of Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, Spain.”

— What was your inspiration to buy the house and rent it out as holiday apartments?

José Antonio: “On our travels we always enjoy staying in small hotels during our trips and wanted to have something similar to call our own in Las Palmas. When we saw the house six years ago, we decided to buy it and use our experience as architects to refurbish and convert it into holiday apartments.”

— What made you fall in love with the house?

José Antonio: “The house offers a comfortable and cozy feeling that made me fall in love with it and feel at home right away. It’s a beautiful old house from the 1900s, which was built by a local architect. The inside of the house is divided up into lofts and is therefore very light with three big windows in every apartment. Only the bathrooms are separate rooms in each loft.

We wanted to save as much of the original structure as possible and therefore decided to keep all the wood floors and also recycle many of the materials from the house itself.”

— Please tell us a bit about the interior design of the holiday apartments.

José Antonio: “We brought in furniture from local antique shops, which we then redesigned to contemporary standards. For example, the recycled lamps were originally gold and white. We painted them yellow to add to the happy holiday ambience we wanted to create by using colors from the 1960s.”

— There are 3 apartments at The Loft Las Palmas?

José Antonio: “Yes. The first apartment or loft has two levels with the living room at the lowest level and the bedroom and bathroom on the upper level. Then there is a split level with a kitchen and small dining room.

The second and third lofts each have a balcony. The floor of one of them shows the wood beams of the ceiling so you can see the structure.

All of the lofts have access to the roof terrace with a spectacular view of the city of Las Palmas and sun chairs to relax on.”

— What other facilities and services do you offer to your holiday guests?

José Antonio: “As there are only three holiday apartment we do not have a reception but there is always someone here to give you your key and give you suggestions and recommendations for restaurants and sights in the old town as well as around the area around Las Palmas and Gran Canaria in general.

In each holiday apartment there is a small, fully equipped kitchen. There is a laundry room for guests who want to clean their clothing during their stay with us. A baggage room is available if check out is too long before the actual departure time of our guests.”
