— La Classe has been beautifully restored. Please tell us a bit about the history of the building.

Anne: “La Classe is a huge brick building which dates from 1863 and used to be, together with the church, one of the main buildings of the village of Denée. The ground floor was used as a classroom and the first floor used to be the town hall, so everyone went to school and later got married here!”

— What was your inspiration to buy the building, convert it and rent it out to groups and for events?

Anne: “Seven years ago we opened the guest house Les Duves. It was so successful that we decided to look for another, bigger house and to convert it into luxury accommodations for groups. When we found La Classe we immediately fell in love with it because it had all the features we were looking for like high ceilings, large rooms, nice floors...”

— The interior design of La Classe just looks amazing. Where is your knack for design coming from?

Anne: “We have always been interested in design. Once a year we go to the Milano design fair just for passion and thanks to our work we see exceptional homes designed by the best contemporary architects all over the world. This enriching experience has inspired us to create this beautifully appointed vacation accommodation which combines both the conviviality of group living with the aesthetic pleasure of great design.”

— How would you describe the style of the villa interior?

Anne: “The interior at La Classe combines high quality materials, space and simplicity. It has a very peaceful atmosphere. All the paintings, objects and installations have a connection to the old school, but in a humorous way. Children go crazy when they see the school chairs hanging on the main wall of the kitchen!”

— Please tell us a bit about the facilities and the rooms at La Classe.

Anne: “People can relax together in the home cinema and watch one of our select DVDs, cook together in front of the fireplace in the kitchen-dining room with its 9m long bar or have a fun evening playing table football and listening to the old Wurlitzer juke box.

Each bedroom represents a classroom with a different subject — mathematics, french, geography etc — and is decorated with objects we have found in the attic and pieces of art that relate to that subject.”
